At Greenway Academy, music is integral to everyday life and, by providing a range of music opportunities, our aim is for all pupils to develop a love of music and the enrichment it can bring, self-confidence and a sense of achievement. Music is viewed as a highly valuable form of creativity that can span the whole curriculum.
We are committed to developing a curiosity and passion for this subject as they progress through the curriculum - encouraging pupils to develop a critical engagement with music through composition, listening, evaluating across a wide range of historical periods, styles, traditions and music genres. Children are encouraged to become independent learners within this subject, developing a resilience and being able to reflect on their own learning.
As well as this, we aim to nurture an understanding the importance of music in the wider community and encourage pupils to involve themselves in music in a variety of different contexts.
